The next time you see Spider-Man in the movies, chances are he might not be white, if a latest rumour is anything to go by.
TheWrap's Jeff Sneider said at a recent Meet the Movie Press session. "Listen, this is not set in stone guys, but I'm telling you right now, Spider-Man's not going to be white. Spider-Man's not going to be white. I'm 95% sure. Spider-Man's going to be most likely black. But there's a chance he could also be Latino. 95% sure, not white."
Sony and Marvel/Disney brought Spider-Man and the Avengers together recently. The studios announced a deal in which the next installment of Sony's $4 billion Spider-Man franchise will be co-produced by Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige along with Sony's Amy Pascal for a July 28, 2017, release.
Spider-Man is set to appear in Marvel’s Captain America: Civil War. In fact, Marvel are going to do everything they can to make sure this happens – it’s the first big thing they stand to gain from the partnership.
This will come as a big change in the Marvel universe of superheroes which is full of white faces. In fact, other than War Machine and Falcon (who will be joined by Black Panther and Luke Cage), none of Marvel superheroes are white.
