- Portugal have secured progress to next summer's Euro 2016 tournament
- Cristiano Ronaldo has been released from the squad by Fernando Santos
- Real Madrid star has been making the most of his time away from football
- Santos has also allowed Tiago and Ricardo Carvalho to enjoy early break
Cristiano
Ronaldo has been released from
the Portugal squad by manager Fernando
Santos after helping his team secure their qualification for next
summer's Euro 2016.
Portugal
face Serbia on Sunday in their final group game of the qualifying
campaign but their progress to the tournament in France was confirmed
after they defeated Denmark 1-0 on Thursday.
The
national team boss Santos has confirmed the Real Madrid star, along
with Tiago and Ricardo Carvalho, have all been allowed to miss the
weekend clash and enjoy an early break.
'I had been
thinking before that if we won today, we would make changes for the next
game, because we recognise that, at this point in time, it would be a
little tiring for some of the players,' said Santos after the Denmark
win.
'I want to see and work with other players, so Cristiano Ronaldo, Tiago and Ricardo Carvalho have been released from the squad.'
Real Madrid star Ronaldo is certainly making the most of his break after jetting off to Morocco with his friends.
The
former Manchester United winger posted an Instagram snap, one of many
over the past few days, and captioned the photo: 'Spending great time
with my Moroccan friends‼️'
After jetting home from Portugal, Ronaldo, 30, also shared the impressive meal on Instagram on Friday lunchtime.
The Real Madrid star's banquet includes fresh fruit, potatoes, scrambled egg and Italian meats, as well as juice and water.
Ronaldo will be looking to get as much rest as possible before Madrid's La Liga clash with Levante next Saturday.
Rafa Benitez's side have enjoyed an unbeaten start to their La Liga campaign and are second behind Villarreal.
