MANCHESTER UNITED manager Louis van Gaal has instructed the Old Trafford board to tie up a deal for Southampton forward Sadio Mane in January, according to reports.
Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
And Spanish publication Fichajes says he has now "insisted" that a deal be tied up to sign him as soon as possible.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman has so far resisted United's attempts to lure one of his star players away from St Mary's.
However, his stance has changed slightly of late and he has seemingly resigned himself to losing the 23-year-old in the future.
"Maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared," he told the Daily Echo.
Mane moved to the south coast from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around £12m at the start of last season.
In 43 appearances for the club he has scored 14 goals.
