Louis van Gaal tells Man Utd board to sign star forward from Premier League rivals Saints

MANCHESTER UNITED manager Louis van Gaal has instructed the Old Trafford board to tie up a deal for Southampton forward Sadio Mane in January, according to reports.

It is claimed Van Gaal was impressed with the Senegal international's sensational display in Saints' 3-1 victory over Chelsea at
Stamford Bridge on Saturday.
And Spanish publication Fichajes says he has now "insisted" that a deal be tied up to sign him as soon as possible.
Saints boss Ronald Koeman has so far resisted United's attempts to lure one of his star players away from St Mary's.

The Red Devils made a bid in the region £25million in the summer transfer window but Koeman stood firm.
However, his stance has changed slightly of late and he has seemingly resigned himself to losing the 23-year-old in the future.
"Maybe one day we will lose Mane but then we have to be prepared," he told the Daily Echo.

"You know in our situation that kind of player, if they play like today, there will come a lot of interest in the end of the season, but now we enjoy watching Mane in our team."
Mane moved to the south coast from Red Bull Salzburg for a fee of around £12m at the start of last season.
In 43 appearances for the club he has scored 14 goals.
