Bayern Munich boss Pep Guardiola has reached a tenative agreement to
become Manchester City’s manager next season, according to Catalan
newspaper Mundo Deportivo.
The former Barcelona coach has long been
linked with a move to the
Etihad Stadium, where the management team is littered with Camp Nou old
boys, for some today.
Today’s report claims that Guardiola has now given City his word that
he will join them in the summer. Though no paperwork has been signed,
he has apparently told his friend, former Barca colleague and City
director of football Txiki Begiristain that he intends to take up the
offer of a job.
Guardiola’s three-year contract at the Allianz Arena expires at the
end of the current campaign and he has not agreed a new deal.
With Bayern set to coast to another Bundesliga title this campaign,
it seems there is little challenge for Guardiola with the Bavarian
giants beyond the annual assault on the Champions League.
They have reached the semi-finals in both of Guardiola’s campaign at the helm to date.
