Costa Rican goalkeeper Keylor Navas, joined Real Madrid last summer after a highly impressive showing at the 2014 World Cup, but Arsenal are interested in him, reports Le10 Sport.
The 28-year-old keeper has struggled to find a place in Carlo Ancelotti’s team, with the Italian coach preferring to choose veteran shot-stopper Iker Casillas, instead.
With such a promising talent wasting away on the bench the likes of Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool have begun to monitor the player, according to the report in France. Despite this interest from some of England’s biggest club, Navas is determined to fight for his place.
“I am very calm. Of course, one always wants more. I am not a conformist or someone who gives up easily. I know that the situation is not what I would like, but that’s where I have to bring out the best of me and be stronger.
“This is not the first time in my career that I have been in this position. For me it is a privilege to be at Real Madrid and I try to demonstrate every day why they recruited me,”said the player.
Navas has only made three La Liga appearances for Los Blancos this season but did manage to keep a clean sheet in his most recent match, against Levante on March 15th.
He has an average of 3.00 saves per goal and a distribution success of 74%, which is better than Casillas.
Navas joined Madrid for €10 million in the summer from Levante, where he played 70 games.
However, the Real Madrid man truly caught the football worlds attention in Brazil at the 2014 World Cup, where he helped the un-fancied Central American nation all the way to the quarter-finals, where they were eventually knocked out by Holland.
