Hollywood beauty Salma Hayek is not one to do anything by half measures. Days after she joined Facebook, she is a presence on Instagram as well. And that's after more than a decade of studiously ignoring internet in every form.
In an interview with Facebook's EMEA vice president Nicola Mendelsohn, Hayek revealed the reasons of her absence from any social media.
"I'm a rebel, I don't want to do what everyone else does. I really did resist it. I had this idea that you should always be present, not always calling, texting, when I'm with you, I'm with you. I feel sometime people are not so present because of social media. You need to look up at people around you," she said.
And marking her first ever Facebook post, Hayek wrote on her wall, "Life is about new discoveries, so today after decades of a self-imposed allergy to technology, I am losing my social media virginity!"
"I want to be there for the people who have supported me for all these years. Because I am grateful to them and I am hoping that they get to know me better. I am excited to start this new adventure with you and I hope that it will be a fun and inspiring one."
