Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes his side are on course to “finish the season very strong” after their 3-2 victory over Hull at the KC on Sunday afternoon.
The Blues raced into an early to goal lead before Hull hit back to level at the break.
However, Mourinho’s men upped it again in the second half to take all three points and
the Special One was delighted with the win.
“The victory is very, very important obviously, we go back to three points after a draw at home last week,” said Mourinho.
“The performance was very, very good until 2-0. We lost a bit of quality after their two goals, but in the second-half from minute one, we recovered a good level of football. We deserved the three points.”
Mourinho was also quick to defend Thibaut Courtois after the keeper made a howler for the second Hull goal, and the manager is confident that his side will go on to win the title.
“Thibaut Courtois is a big player. He made a mistake but the important thing was to be there in the second half for the team and he was.
“Our position is our best since the start of the season. The maximum distance we’ve had is eight points with the same number of matches.
“Now it’s six and a match in hand with nine matches to go. After the international break will go back to one match per week, except our game in hand. I believe we can finish the season very strong.”
This season the Setanta Sports pack will show 71 live Barclays Premier League games and 35 exclusively live European Rugby Champions Cup games including key games for the Irish Provinces
