According to the Daily Star, Manchester United are prepared to offer a staggering £300,000-a-week to Gareth Bale, in order to lure him to Old Trafford.
Bale, 25, has had a mixed time at Real Madrid since moving in the summer of 2013.
The Wales international, despite being the man for
the big occasion last season in scoring during the Copa del Rey and Champions League finals, is yet to truly win over the Real Madrid faithful.
However, the Star report that Man United are willing to offer Bale €417,000-a-week, which would put him on par with superstar Wayne Rooney, in terms of wages.
Furthermore, the news outlet claim if Bale joined Man United, it would spell the end for Angel Di Maria. The Star claim Man United would look to sell Di Maria to the highest bidder, despite only signing the playmaker last summer.
So far this season, Bale has scored 12 La Liga goals – only Karim Benzema (13) and Cristiano Ronaldo (30) have bettered that total.
Furthermore, the Wales international has created 33 chances, assisting eight goals. Five other Real Madrid players have created more than Bale this campaign.
Man United’s next game is a crunch clash with Liverpool and the game could decide the fate of the top-four battle.
